Our
Sunday Services

At First Congregational Church of Kittery United Church of Christ (UCC) we offer two Sunday Services in our historic 1730 Sanctuary.

Both services share the same message and Scripture readings, but each has a distinct style and rhythm.

8:00 AM
Short Format Service

A quiet and reflective gathering centered on prayer, sermon, Scripture, and preaching. This service does not include music and typically lasts about 30 minutes. Its simplicity and intimacy make it a peaceful way to begin the day.

10:00 AM
full Sunday service & Live Stream

Our 10:00 a.m. service lasts about one hour and features music, hymn singing, and contributions from the choir, bell choir, or guest musicians throughout the month.
Early in the service, the pastor shares a Children’s Message, offering a short, engaging reflection just for kids. After this message, children are invited to Sunday School in the Parish House, where they enjoy creative activities, stories, and crafts.

For those who remain in the sanctuary crayons and coloring books are available at the entrance.

Coffee Hour

We’re a very social church and gather in the Parish House after the 10:00 a.m. service to chat, and catch up with each other over coffee, tea, and some simple refreshments. In the summer months we move outside and enjoy lemonade on the lawn in front of the Sanctuary. Visitors are welcome!

Communion

We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month at both services, and all are welcome to participate. We use grape juice instead of wine, and the bread is gluten-free. Communion is usually shared by intinction, which means that worshippers come forward, receive a piece of bread, and lightly dip it into the cup before partaking. On some Sundays, the elements are served in the pews instead.

Facilities

Our historic church building does not have running water or restrooms, however
restrooms are located in our Parish House, including one with a changing table for families.
