Uncovering Our Hidden History - Port Marker Project Potluck & Talk

$0.00

Join us in the Parish House for a Lasagna Dinner and Updates on the Local Port Marker Project!

Friday, January 16, 2026
5:30pm
First Congregational Church of Kittery Point Parish House
23 Pepperrell Rd, Kittery Point, Maine, 03905

On Friday, January 16th we’ll host a lasagna dinner in partnership with Second Christian Congregational Church and the Maine Middle Passage Port Marker Project. This is a free community event, and will include a short presentation with updates on plans for local memorial markers including the historical documentation, photos of some of the memorials erectedby other communities, and the timeline for markers in our community.

The Maine Marker Project is an effort to create a memorial in Kittery, the only documented arrival site in the State of Maine, part of a larger campaign to acknowledge 90 such locations nationally. Seacoast residents are invited to learn more about the group working to acknowledge Maine’s role in the transatlantic human trade, and honor those who were impacted.

We’re in need of volunteers from both churches to provide lasagnas (with and without meat), salad, bread or rolls, and desserts. If you’re able to support this event in this way, please click below to sign up!
